Saxon Nursery Curriculum

Our curriculum is carefully designed to meet each child's unique needs. Our fundamental goal is to nurture a growth mindset in our children so they develop essential skills that will serve them throughout their lives.

The Early Years Foundation Stage covers Nursery and Reception. Our curriculum challenges children, encouraging them to develop into motivated learners, curious about the world around them. Our children are nurtured in a secure environment, whilst being allowed to explore, enquire and take risks both inside and outside the classroom. Our children make swift progress within a child centred context and make a smooth transition to Key Stage 1.

Our Early Years curriculum is based on seven areas of learning.  Three prime areas include:

  • Personal Social Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication & Language

and four specific areas which are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematic
  • Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts & Design

Learning through play

The children experience an enriched environment where they can actively engage in play, independently and with others. Practical activities are arranged to allow the children to develop their ideas, ask questions and indulge in their curiosity and imagination.

Our curriculum is mapped out with a variety of topics that stimulate interest. Each topic seeks to engage the children and provide them with opportunities to increase their knowledge, learn new skills and be introduced to new concepts.

Partnership with parents

Saxon Nursery values strong relationships with families. It is vital that we work together to share knowledge, understand the children's interests, and discover how best to support their learning.

We believe that it is fundamental that a child feels comfortable in their learning environment. We will therefore work with families to ensure the transition into nursery is a positive experience and we will personalise this transition period to meet the individual needs of all children.
